Squad
Ever since the original formation of our team we have aimed to maintain a regular group of eight players to play each week. Detailed below are the profiles of our current first-team squad, as well as some of the other more notable players who have turned out for us over the years.
Current Squad
Founder of the original Inter Me Gran team in 2009, Adam has now run the team for over 15 seasons. A fast defender who isn't afraid of a challenge, he has a good reading of the play from the back and also communicates well with his team mates. Very occasionally pops up with a goal at the other end, but mainly tends to pride his game on keeping clean sheets. |
|
Danny has been a member of the side since we were first founded, and has been pretty much a permanent fixture in the centre-forward role ever since. A player with a good strike on him as well as the ability to beat a man (twice over!), on his day he is capable of winning us games almost single-handedly. As our all-time leading scorer, his Clunj career has seen him average just under a goal a game. |
|
'Seddy' was one of the first people to show an interest when the team was initially put together. After a few matches to get back into playing and building up his fitness, he has since become a rock in our defence, rarely losing out in any 50-50 challenge. He finally got his first goal for us towards the end of our second season (although did let us down with the promised lap of honour!). |
|
Despite not being interested in playing to begin with, a substitute appearance when we were short of players a few weeks into the first season soon changed his mind. Primarily a defender who loves to block shots in any way possible, 'Pooley' is now more composed on the ball and likes to push forward in search of a goal. Memorably suffered a nasty injury when dislocating his shoulder in the 2009/10 Cup Finals night. |
|
A friend of ours from school, Dawson became a regular for the Clunj when he returned from university at the start of our third season. He is a versatile player who is comfortable playing in any position, and as arguably the most technically-gifted member of our team he has continuously proved to be a reliable source of goals over the years. This was especially the case in one memorable game against Mr Parker FC, as he bagged all six in a 6-0 victory. A bad injury suffered in late 2018 forced him to then stop playing regularly, before making a welcome return a couple of years later. |
|
The third member of the Whittaker family to play in goal for us, Tomas joined the side permanently in our fourteenth season after his eldest brother James had to quit playing due to injury. Despite being one of the youngest players to have represented us over the years he settled into the team quickly and comfortably though, and has since gone on to record both a number of clean sheets and Man of the Match awards. |
|
Living on the same street as Rob and Tomas, Jake first agreed to come down and help us out when making his debut as a 17 year-old in October 2016. A player with a good first touch and close control, he has since then gone on to become a permanent fixture in our side after spaces opened up due to others leaving. |
|
Danny's step-brother George joined us as permanent member of the side following Rob's departure in the summer of 2019. A good all-round attacking player who is good with his back to goal, whilst also being keen to drive forward with the ball and get shots off, he has settled in to our side in no time at all. |
|
A close friend of Jake's, Matty became a regular player for us at the start of our 22nd season, following impressive showings when helping us out over the years before. Known for his silky dribbling skills, whilst also being clinical in front of goal, he has proved a great addition to our attacking threat. |

Another to have been a member of the side since the beginning, Rob is a versatile player whose equal ability in both attacking and defending has led to him playing in a number of positions for us over the years.
After going on to suffer numerous setbacks through injury and illness he did at one point spend a few seasons as our regular keeper, before then returning to play outfield once again, where his battling tendencies always saw him in the thick of the action.
After moving to Ireland in May 2019, he now appears for us whenever back home.

Joe or 'Dudgie' (not sure where this nickname originates from!) is Tom's brother, and started playing for the side in early 2010.
His ability to dribble past defenders with such ease made him an instant hit, and he was made a permanent addition to the side shortly after.
Despite going on to miss the majority of our eighth and ninth campaigns due to work commitments, he did then return as a regular player for the next two seasons - but then unfortunately had to leave the Clunj once again as his job saw him relocate to Carlisle.

A work colleague of Danny's, Rich made a memorable debut for us in our eighth season - coming on as a sub and running straight into our area to concede a penalty!
He quickly made up for it with a goal at the other end though, with this the first of 30 he would go on to score as he become a regular member of our side over the next few seasons.
However he then had to stop playing at the end of our fifteenth campaign, as he moved back to his home-town of Lincoln.

Mark first made his debut for us in the 2014 Mundial World Cup tournament, and as well as going on to feature for us in other one-day competitions, he also regularly helped us out on a Monday night when we were short on numbers.
Then following our first season at York College in which he would go on to feature in 17 out of our 21 games, it was decided to make him a permanent member of the squad; taking the place of the recently-departed Rich.
An instinctive finisher who is something of a 'right place at the right time' type of player, Mark on more than one occasion came up with some vital goals for the Clunj.
A combination of injury and other commitments then meant he could no longer commit to playing every week.

After many recommendations from his brother Rob, James replaced Pagey as the side's first-team keeper at the start of our second season and then played for us up until the beginning of our sixth.
Almost a three-year absence then followed due to other commitments, before he eventually returned as a regular for the start of our twelfth campaign. However a serious hand injury sustained during our fourteenth season has now seen him have to give up playing once again.
A top shot-stopper with good distribution, his most memorable time for the Clunj came when we won the league in our second year - as he amazingly didn't concede a single goal all season.

Luke was signed up as an original member of the team, having played with Adam and Danny in 11-a-side football.
Known for his powerful shooting, he averaged a goal every other game for us over the first two campaigns, before having to leave for a couple of seasons due to other commitments.
His second spell then saw him return with some more all-action performances in midfield, but irregular work shifts meant he eventually had to give up his place as a regular player.
A list of every player who has played for the Clunj during our history can be viewed here.
